Rider in the troupe of Cajamarca, he is awarded two full parts of gold and silver in the sharing of the ransom of atahualpa (8,880 pesos of gold and 362 silver marks).
He came to the Indes in 1524, and he had participated in the expedition mounted from Hispaniola by Gil González de Ávila to conquer the region of Honduras. After the failure of this expedition, he goes to the Nicaragua, from where he moved on to Peru with the men of Hernando de Soto.
He is one of the 12 riders chosen to go with De Soto, in his first interview with Atahualpa in his camp. He is still with De Soto to verify the noises of uprisings of the Indians, a pretext for the death sentence of the Inca.
In 1535 he returned to Spain with his fortune, and may 1536, he is in Sevilla to prepare a memory of his services in order to receive a coat of arms that was given to him in 1537.
He ends his life in his hometown of Palos.
